Film Heavyweights in Dekada Cinemanila International Tilte
Two Filipino helmed films will face off with other acclaimed films from other countries in this year’s International Competition of Dekada Cinemanila. Lav Diaz’s Melancholia, awarded the top prize for feature at the Orizzonti Section of the Venice Film Festival, is joined by The AmazingTruth About Queen Raquela, a joint production by Iceland, the US and the Philippines. Raquela won the Teddy Awards for Best Feature Film at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. Both films will meet stiff competition from this highly inspired roster vying for the prestigious Lino Brocka Award (International Category): Lucky Miles (Australia), Night Bus (Iran), Band’s Visit (Israel), United Red Army (Japan) and Vanished Empire (Russia).
Dekada Cinemanila will run from October 16-29 at Gateway Cineplex 10, Araneta Center, Quezon City. It is presented by the Independent Cinema Association of the Philippines (ICAP), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
