7th International Student Film and Video Festival of Beijing Film Academy

Call for Entry

Dear Sir or Madam:

    The 7th International Student Film and Video Festival of Beijing Film Academy will be held from Nov. 9th to 15th 2008. Here we sincerely invite your college to recommend two to three exceptional student works (of less than 30 minutes) produced within the past two years to join our festival. Works put forward by participating institutions will receive special consideration during the festival’s preliminary selection process. Should work from your institution be selected for screening, both school representatives and the student film maker will be invited to attend the event in person. The festival may provide some foreign students with part of the traveling expenses and accommodation under special circumstances.
    And we also welcome entries from individual students. We will be very grateful if you help us promote the 7th Beijing Film Academy International Student Film and Video Festival within your school. By displaying our festival announcement in prominent locations and encouraging students to join this activity you can help us make this a truly successful international event.

    Deadline for submissions is August 31, 2008.

Entrance Requirements

  1. The deadline of online submission is 31st August 2008. Films submitted later than that date will not be accepted.
  2. Films must have been completed by the student directors during their studies at school. Those who participate for the single award should also have their films completed during their studies at school. The contents filled in the forms are required to be absolutely complete and accurate.
  3. Films must have been made after 31st August 2006, must not exceed 30 minutes in length.
  4. Each participant must fill out and submit the festival entry form online first.
    One entry form for one film only. Films not submitted online first will not be accepted.
  5. For the submission, we kindly invite you to send us a VHS, DVD or DV copy of your film, together with a printed fulfilled official entry form of the festival. At pre-selection stage, we would not recommend you send us BETA(SP/DIGITAL), 35mm,or 16mm.Submitted materials will not be returned.
  6. After the pre-selection, if your film is selected for the final screening, we will ask you to send us another copy with higher quality as 35mm, 16mm, BETA SP(Pal only), DIGITAL BETA(Pal only),or HDTV(Pal only)and etc.
  7. Films of non-English languages must have English subtitles.

How to submit:

  1. Please submit your film online at http://www.isfvf.cn before 31st August 2008. No further submission will be accepted.
  2. After you submit your film, please send the following materials to our email address isfvf@bfa.edu.cn before 31st August 2008. No further submission will be accepted.
    •English or Chinese dialogue list of your film.
    •Stills of your film (at least 2)
    •Photos of the director (at least 2)
    •Biography and filmography of the director
    Notice: No .zip or .rar in the attachment. The dialogue list must be in “.txt” format, and the photos must be in “.jpg” format (300 dpi at least). Please name your file as “Film name - Still” or “Film name – Director”.
  3. After your submission, please download the entry form and send us one copy of the fulfilled entry form along with your film. All the material must be reached no later than 31st, August 2008.
