The Just Cause Film Series invites cinefreaks and cinefans to an evening of Tears & Fears
& Cheers at Mogwai Café, easily the best place to watch films in the entire city.

This Saturday take a ride with Grig C. Montegrande! Imagine different futures with Emmanuel Dela Cruz, feel under(over) dressed with Martha Atienza! Discover enigmatic
Laura Lappi & Dachi ma and meet the filmmaker Pepper Marcelo! In the vein of the wonderful announcements from the Green Papaya Group (GPG), be frivolous about this.

Shout about the Just Cause film screenings into the wind, tell your plants and pants, uncles and aunts and best friends and worst enemies. Whisper about it in dark corners and let it bask in the light of day. Just Cause doesn't need a reason, it just is – is without pretentions and welcome to all!

Most filmmakers will be present for Q & A's after their film screenings. For more information about the featured films, read on further. We have also included some stills from Dachi ma's NEVERTHELESS & THE MYSTERIES OF NATURE.

SAKAY (15 min) - Grig C. Montegrande

Every taxi ride is different, every taxi driver has a story to tell in Grig C. Montegrande's study of the streets of Metro Manila by night as seen through one taxi driver's conversation with his passenger.

IMAGINING EDSA (7 min) & MARIA CLARA (4 min) – Emmanuel Dela Cruz

SYNOPSIS: How does the present youth feel about the Edsa Revolution? This and other questions haunt the character in this lyrical piece by recognized Sarong Banggi director and writer Emman Dela Cruz.

FILMMAKER (18 min) - Pepper Marcelo

SYNOPSIS: Sigfreid Barros-Sanchez is a scriptwriter and independent film director who has worked in both mainstream and independent film and video. “Filmmaker† takes a look at his highly creative, oftentimes crazy career - his experiences, trials and tribulations, and lessons learned to showcase a portrait of contemporary filmmaking in the Philippines.

Includes an interview with Sigfried, plus film, video clips and still photographs spanning his life and filmography.

MAN IN SUIT (5 min/3SCREEN) & 40M2 IN MIND (7 min) & LEGASPI (WORK IN PROGRESS – 20 – 30 min) – Martha Atienza

SYNOPSIS - MAN IN SUIT - Some say: Clothes make the man. Martha Atienza (NL/PI) became intrigued by the thought: "What if 'ordinary' Filipinos wore suits?" In the installation normal people, occupied by their daily routine, wear a suit.

Suits represent decisions and negotiation, travelling and influence. The first world. Most of the Filipinos seldom wear a suit: that is reserved for marriage and death.
