The competition of the festival is done in two categories which are fiction and documentary. The films which are consistent with the conditions of the application can participate to this category. The applicant films which pass the preliminary assessment are then presented to the evaluation of the main jury. As a result of the evaluation, the films which win the Best Fiction Film and Best Documentary Film awards will be rewarded with 5000YTL and also as a result of the preliminary assessment, 48 films will meet with the filmgoers in the section of ‘Festival Shorts’.
Application for out of Competition
“Application for out of competition is for the purpose of taking place in the festival for just presentation (projection). Besides the fiction and documentary categories, the national and international applications for the animation and experimental categories will also be evaluated in this section.
The deadline for all applications is September 13th, 2008. It is imperative to fill in the application form for competition or out of competition ; a DVD or mini DV of the films must reach “Akbank Sanat” address , below by this date . Should the sender choose to send the materials through an express courier service, specifying “no commercial value - for cultural purposes” on the packet, the cost of custom duties and taxes in Turkey must be included in the transportation cost paid by the sender; if that is not the case the Festival will refuse the package.
