Reinvigorating Documentary Filmaking
The 2010 Workshop with 10 new films
At last, after more than a year in the works, the results of a documentary filmmaking workshop involving four organizations and ten upcoming filmmakers will be premiered. Venue is the College of St. Benilde, at its School of Design and the Arts cinema at the 12th flloor. The day-long screenings are on May 5 and 6, from 1030 a.m. until 8 p.m., free to the public.
This new wave of documentary fillms range in subject matter from portraits of artists, filmmakers, and people living along the margins, to issues dealing with Philippine education, environment, and politics. The films were produced during a year-long workshop conducted by various German film experts brought in by the Goethe Institut-Manila and held at the College of St. Benilde Digital Filmmaking Department, supported by the Independent Filmmakers Cooperative and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Committee on Cinema
