The Embassy of France in the Philippines, together with the Alliance Française de Manille, is glad to present a scientific and cultural festival with the theme of water development in the Philippines: Water for Life! - Tubig at Buhay!

This week long festival, to be held from 21 to 27 November, 2011, is intended to help educate and mobilize the general public on issues related to water management in the Philippines. Through an interdisciplinary approach, it will seek to account for all the multiplicity of the uses and importance of water in human life, as well as the complexity of water management at the local, national and international levels.

COMPETITION OUTLINE

The festival "Water for Life, Tubig at Buhay!", organized by the Embassy of France together with the Alliance Française de Manille, will feature several highlights open to the public and to professionals: exhibits, artistic performances, discussions and round tables, scientific conferences, documentaries and films screening.

This event aims to address the concept of water through the themes that constitute the uniqueness of the country or that have been identified as priorities for the development of the Philippines: Natural Hazards (rainy season, flooding, typhoons), Public Health (sanitation, potable water, disease), Insularity (marine biodiversity and the impact of human activities), Uses of Water (energy (geothermal /hydro), agriculture, aquaculture…).

The applicant has to submit a 40 seconds (max) teaser reflecting the theme of water. The teaser will be used as a communication tool for the promotion of the festival.
