The Cinemanila International Film Festival is strengthening its role in bringing World Cinema to the Philippines and Philippine Cinema to the World as it premieres not only award-winning films from the Cannes Festival and Berlin International Film Festival, but also several contenders in the ongoing 86th Academy Awards.
It is not impossible that a Filipino filmmaker will make it into the Oscar finals. Cinemanila 2013 aims to bring the spirit of Oscar among Filipino and Asian filmmakers to get a glimpse of the Oscar trend hoping to share a wider and broader perspective of World Cinema.
With its theme “Vision and Passion,” Cinemanila is once again showcasing several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films from around the globe varying from genre to arthouse films.
At least seven films vying for slots in Oscar are included in Cinemanila’s stellar line-up this year. They are Ilo-ilo (Singapore), Neigboring Sound (Brazil), The Missing Picture (Cambodia), In Bloom (Georgia), Winter of Discontent (Egypt), Heli (Mexico), and our very own, Transit (Philippines).

The Cinemanila International Film Festival will run on December 18-22, 2013 at SM Aura Cinema Premiere, Taguig City. Screening schedules and ticket price will be announced ASAP.
The 15th Cinemanila International Film Festival is presented by The City of Taguig, the Cinemanila International Film Festival Foundation, and SM Aura Premier.
Opening the festival screening is Kim Byeong-woo’s Box Office hit, “The Terror, Live”. Winner of Best New Director at the 34th Blue Dragon Awards, this breathtaking thriller follows a demoted TV news anchor Yoon Young-hwa (Jung-woo Ha), who accidentally finds a golden opportunity to climb back up by broadcasting live terrors manipulated by a bothered man.
