MANILA, Philippines - After winning the Grand Jury Prize at the 2010 Miami International Film Festival, Brillante Mendoza’s masterpiece "Lola" also bagged three more awards at the 24th Fribourg International Film Fest in Switzerland over the weekend.
In a text message, "Lola" screenwriter Lynda Casimiro said the movie won the International Federation of Film Society award, the Ecumenical Jury Award and The Audience award at the Swiss festival. Casimiro said the film’s triumphs were declared at the closing ceremonies at the Swiss canton of Fribourg Saturday night.
"Lola" also won the Harimaguada Golden trophy, Ex Aequo Best Actress award for Anita Linda and Rustica Carpio; and Best Photography to Odyssey Flores at the Las Palmas International Film Festival in Spain.
