It’s getting hotter!

The heat of summer is just excruciating – sun burn, heat stroke, dehydration, etc. “Grabe ang init!!!” is just what everybody says especially when Metro Manila hit an astounding 36.1 degrees Celsius a few days back.

To some celebrities, however, the over-heat is not a hindrance to enjoy the summer. Here’s how they deal with the oppressive one.

Zsa Zsa Padilla, singer/actress: Stay indoors or make use of the heat by swimming and working to a good sweat!

Anne Curtis, actress/host: Spray my new “A Series” fragrance from Folded & Hung to feel fresh the whole day. Hehehe

Dingdong Dantes, actor: I use it. I love the sun, and I love to sweat. Sometimes working out in a heated place is much better. The only problem is, with the extreme physical activities plus puncturing heat, they both result to exhaustion. A nap can equalize it though if I have time for it… In general, I like it. It makes me look forward to going into cool places, like other continents, buildings, malls, and most especially – my room.

Ariel Rivera, singer/actor: I buy four aircons for my bedroom or I go to Canada… Haha

Assunta Da Rossi, actress: I stay indoors and drink lots of water.

Alessandra Da Rossi, actress: I spend most of my time indoors enjoying a book or doing all sorts of fun stuff with my computer. I also drink lots of cold drinks, especially cold chocolate drinks.

Nanette Inventor, singer: Light, loose-fitting clothing to beat the summer heat. I make sure I’m hydrated – drinking plenty of fluid, water, the best.

Jamie Rivera, singer: Take a bath at least 2x a day. Drink plenty of water.

Richard Merk, singer: By going out of town to the beach with my family or swimming at home with family and friends. Staying home where it is cool.

Anthony Pangilinan, actor/host: I take a shower twice a day and I keep in mind “this is better” than the freezing months in Europe or America! Proud to be Pinoy!

Candy Pangilinan, actress: Embrace it and use it to my advantage… Take the chance to bond with family with indoor activities. Embrace the heat by enjoying the sun with my son in water sports. Take advantage of the heat to lose weight and perspire all the toxins out of my body.

Kiana Valenciano: I swim a lot!!! And make myself slurpees to keep me cool.

Gabriel Valenciano, actor/host: You can’t handle it, you adjust. It’s all over the place. The best thing to do is to always have an ice cold drink at all times, mainly water. Or do what I do, find a pool and jump.

Yael Yuzon, vocalist Sponge Cola: I don’t. I face it head on! I jog at noon everyday while listening to Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi!

Sitti Navarro, bossa nova diva: By drinking lots of water, putting on cooling lotion and swimming as often as I can.

Miguel Escueta, recording artist: Lots and lots of water, good vibes, and music. I also try to go to Montemar (private beach in Bataan) to have quiet time with family.

Blanktape, rapper: Sa ngayon four times a day ako maligo at umiinom lagi ng water. Dati kasi nung di pa summer once a week lang!

Skarlet, jazz singer: I beat the summer heat by hanging out at Ten 02 bar (in Timog, Q.C) where it is cold and the music, at least for me, is way too cool.

Sabrina, acoustic act: I love the summer heat! I get into my nicest summer clothes, put on my greatest smile, and walk right under that lovely sun. As a grad gift, I asked my parents to bring me to Boracay, Subic, and Hundred Islands. It was like a beach-hopping trip.

Medwin Marfil, True Faith vocalist: I stay indoors most of the day, drink lots of water or very cold Lipton green tea. I think of happy thoughts and not let the heat affect my moods. But in the afternoon around 4:30 p.m. I totally embrace the insanely high temperature when I run for 30 to 40 minutes here in our village or in Manila Memorial Park, Sucat. Just like rain, the hot summer wind can bring back a lot of great memories, that is why I don’t entirely shun it.

Jobelle Salvador, actress: Since I’m campaigning to protect my skin, I use sunblock and to avoid dehydration for staying under the sun, I drink lots of water and use thermal water to beat the heat, but of course, if given a choice, I would love to stay indoor.

Leslie Martinez, actress: I take cold showers, drink fruit shakes or fraps, and I wear comfy summer outfits. Plus, I plan beach trips with family and friends.

Star Villareal, former child actress: By going to a place surrounded by many trees. I stay at home either browsing my Facebook, watching CD movie or exercising.

Erik Perpetua, Jam 88.3 station head: Beat up the heat with block rockin’ music over FM radio.

Renee Salud, fashion designer: I attend my Bikram Yoga regularly. I was able to acclimatize to the hot climate by enjoying the sun and fresh air of Laiya, Batangas.

Malu Barry, singer: I am sick for almost four days now. Heat stroke. Two hours ako nag-swimming sa pool sa house ko.

Nick Lizaso, director: I beat the heat by exercising – playing tennis five times a week every morning; and drinking lots of fluids. Doing these on a regular schedule releases my body heat and keeps me cool all day.

Dante Nico Garcia, director: I’m now sporting a very, very short Mohawk. Three weeks ago, I even shaved my head. I have some scars on my scalp, but I don’t care. It’s the freedom from hair products that helps a lot in my coping with the heat of summer.

Dinah Dominguez, singer and former sexy star: I enjoy the heat by rehearsing with the special kids’ show this Saturday dubbed “Special Kids On The Go!” at SM City North Edsa The Block; and eating ice cream with my son, Bobson, 17, who plays the professional flute.
