HE WAS a drummer, too. |
A DAY BEFORE PALITO DIED (ON APRIL 12), SINGER-actress Jolina Magdangal appealed to fans through her Facebook page to help the ailing comedian.
On Monday, she bid him goodbye, also on FB: “Goodbye Sir Palito, you are a seasoned musician and a great comic.” (Palito earlier worked with Jolina’s boyfriend, Mark Escueta of Rivermaya, in the music video “Ambotsa.”)
Filmmaker Khavn de la Cruz met Palito last year near a Pagcor Casino where the latter worked as a drummer. He cast the comic in “Mondomanila.” It would be Palito’s last movie.
De la Cruz will screen a film of his band, The Brockas, for the benefit of Palito’s family at B-Side in Makati Thursday night at 10. Plus, a back-to-back screening of Palito’s 1980s film “Rambuto” and “Pablong Shoeshine” (from “Mondomanila”) is set April 18, 7 p.m., at Mogwai Cubao Expo.
