A RETROSPECTIVE OF FILIPINO FILMS featuring 32 titles and spanning the 1970s to the present day, is set in three cities in Brazil: São Paolo (June 9-27), Rio de Janeiro (June 29-July 15) and Brasilia (July 13-Aug. 1).
Curated by Raphael Mesquita and Leonardo Levis and supported by the Centro Cultural Banco de Brazil, “RP Panorama” highlights “revered classics” by Lino Brocka, Ishmael Bernal and Mike de Leon, plus films by recent international film fest winners Lav Diaz and Brillante Mendoza and emerging directors Khavn de la Cruz, John Torres, Raya Martin and Adolf Alix. The website describes RP cinema today as “radical, experimental, exploring the possibilities of digital technology ... while depicting social realities.”
