Pinoy Republic Records is a newly established Rap and R&B independent label in the Philippines. This company is a division of the clothing company named also as Pinoy Republic whose primarily goal is to bring out the proud Filipino in each one of us. PR records is built by two of the pioneers of the hip-hop movement in Manila namely Mr. Jhego Catabay (a former member of the Legit Misfits) who is now its manager/producer and Anthony Padua (from the group 4 East Flava) as the Chief Executive Officer and as well the proprietor of the clothing company.
The duo’s tandem has created a massive impact on the hip-hop industry with its newly released compilation album entitled “JUAN REPUBLIC”. This compilation boast North Caloocan’s finest rapper together with some of Manila’s hottest rap artist like Pikaso, Layzie Fu, Mythical Stenthor and more. The 18-track album describes the positive attitude that we Filipino’s posses despite of all challenges we face in life. The album is mainly composed of new rap acts that had made in to the Finals of the RAP MANIA 2008, which was held in Zabarte Town Center Mall last Dec. 2008. The rappers/rap group who joined competition was from all corners of North Caloocan that streches from Bagong Silang and to the edge of San Jose Bulacan. Thus showing extensive talents in writing songs and freestyle battle is a must to be part of the finalist. The Rap acts that made it were J-ONE, BATANG SILANG, MUNTING ZORRO, YOGAH, ANDYMAC, DEATHROW MOBSTAH and ALMIGHTY-INS.
“HALA-BIRA” is the current carrier single that mixes the ati-atihan beats with symphonic hits and stabs that does tickle your body to dance along. It also features a powerful song that would make all mothers cry for joy as depicts appreciation and giving thanks to all mothers. This song is entitled “INAY” and is performed by a lady rapper named J-ONE. Juan Republic also includes their rap rendition of the new wave song “BURNING FLAME” by Vitamin Z, which is now becoming a favorite of track in every club in Manila together with the R&B track entitled “SO TIGHT” offered to all the Pinay’s out there. And for the Boracay Dance Hall fanatics, expect a new twist of flava in this compilation as it gives you stomping booty song entitled “GUMALAW GALAW”. Jhego performs this upbeat tempo track, which show his versatility in hip-hop as he rap in the music with a ragga style accent.
The MTV of “Hala-Bira” is now in progress so expect more surprise package from the Pinoy Republic Label and it’s compilation, which is now in available in all music and record bars.
