Johnoy & Kakoy is an acoustic act composed of Johnoy Danao(former frontman of indie band Bridge), and Kakoy Legaspi ( former guitarist of Rivermaya, now playing with Salindiwa, Peryodiko, Corporate Lo-fi). They had their first jam in 2005 when Johnoy invited Kakoy to catch one of his solo stints at 70's Bistro. Kakoy ended up playing alongside Johnoy the entire show and immediately after they got regular gigs in bars around quezon city( 70's Bistro and Route 196). The duo gained a following doing their own spin to the songs of artists like Coldplay, The Beatles, Dave Matthews Band, and Sting among others, with Johnoy taking care of the vocals and Kakoy dazzling the audience with his melodic solos. This amazing duo is also sometimes joined by fellow musicians Gareth Somers (bass), and Ronnie Badilla (Harp).
Recently, they were featured on a live recording show produced by Pelicola.tv and Wombworks called Alive at the Womb, and preformed songs they have been collaborating on for a year, ("Pagtatapat", "Waltz in D" and "Round"). They released their first single "Pagtatapat" on the net for free download, which was recorded with the help of musician friends Simon Tan(bass), Wendell Garcia(Drums) and Joey de Guzman(clarinet).
They are now finishing up some tracks at Asylum Studio (Kakoy's studio) and will be available for download soon.
