"When you possess light within, you see it externally." ~Anaïs Nin

Music has always been about expression. A combustible force drawing its strength from the lives around it. For most people, it is their solace. For some, it is their emotion. For these five individuals, it is the light in their world of darkness.

Lampara is not just a collective effort of five close friends coming together to make music. It is the expression of their innermost beings, woven together and concocted into heart-stopping love songs. Drawing inspirations from 80's, 90's and current New-Wave and Alternative-Rock and Post-punk genres, Lampara has fused music with emotion, aiming to create a soundtrack to the lives of the people who take time to listen. They write stories like puzzles; five different pieces fitting together to create a perfect reflection of the lives around them. A commentary. A "blog." An anathema to the whole concept of pop music. A take on the burgeoning post-punk revival scene. A "new order" to the current New Order.

But these five individuals do not claim any purpose other than to have fun and express their reactions about life, love and emotion. It is still an artwork, a project and a self-portrait of their own version of making music. It will always be about the music, the fun and the ultimate experience and joy of sharing the stage with your best friends.

"I was introduced to the boys of Lampara three years ago at a college event. I didn't know they were part of a band until I heard them play at a friend's party many months after I first met them. They did a cover of Fra Lippo Lippi's Stitches and Burns (one of my favorite songs) and I liked them since. Through the years, I got to know them more, got to listen to more originals, even played gigs with them several times. Their sound has been consistently unique. Some describe their music as new wave, alternative, post-punk -- but since I know zero about describing music the "proper" way (a disclaimer!), I'd say Lampara's songs are serious love songs you can dance to. The sound is a mix of rock, pop, and a whole lot of dreamy-sounding things. It's a nice and fun blend that keeps their fans coming back for more. Plus, they put on a great, great show." - Mellow Oliveros
