Chanted Journeys:
Discovering the Oral Traditions of the Cordillera

JOIN US ON A CHANTED JOURNEY...

The month of May was proclaimed as Heritage Month in 2003 by Proclamation No 439 in an effort to raise the consciousness of Filipinos with respect to their patrimonial heritage and the need to preserve it.

Through the years, the Filipino Heritage Festival, Inc., together with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, has organized various activities such as performances, exhibitions, and food festivals which sought to strengthen people’s awareness and appreciation of Filipino culture and traditions.

Year 2010's culminating production is a special journey that takes the Filipino to the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Ifugao and Kalinga.  We invite you to CHANTED JOURNEYS: Discovering the Oral Traditions of the Cordillera on May 21-22, 8:00 p.m. at the CCP Main Theater.  Chanted Journeys is a singular experience of the chants of the Ifugao and Kalinga called Hudhud and Ulalim.

Features performances by:

The Community of Chanters of Tungngod, Lagawe, Ifugao
Manlilikha ng Bayan Alonzo Saclag
with Kalinga Budong Dance Troupe

Haggiyo Traditional Ensemble
