Chameleon Association, the Alliance Française de Manille, the Embassy of France to the Philippines and Ros Music Center are presenting the French Classical Pianist Laure Favre-Kahn for a special concert for the benefit of the Franco-Philippine NGO Chameleon Association Inc. on April 28, 2011, 8:00 pm at the PhilamLife Theater.
“LOVE BECOMES CLASSIC” is a FrancoPhil event is organized by the Chameleon Association, the Alliance Française de Manille and the Embassy of France to the Philippines with the support of Rustan’s, Clarins, Total, Air France-KLM, Veolia Water, Jewelmer, PhilamLife, and media partners Manila Bulletin, Sense and Style, Net 25 and DZRJ.
Since 2004, Laure Favre-Khan has been the Ambassador of the Chameleon Association, a French non-governmental organization based in the Philippines. The NGO, which was founded by Laurence Ligier, provides comprehensive care for young girls, offering them the emotional support and assistance they need to rebuild their lives. A team of committed staff provide the children with medical care, counseling, legal assistance and help with their schooling. Chameleon Association is committed to the healing and reintegration of abused children from 5 to 18 years old, and in facilitating an educational sponsorship program to children from the underprivileged sector.
Laure Favre-Kahn studied the piano at the Conservatoire in Avignon, before joining Bruno Rigutto's class at the Paris Conservatoire, where she was unanimously awarded a Premier Prix at the age of seventeen. At the age of twenty, she made her first recording of works by Schumann, followed a year later by a CD devoted to Chopin, both on the Arion label. In January 1999, she performed at the Midem Music Festival in Cannes as one of the ‘ADAMI Classical Revelation’. She now makes regular appearances as a soloist or chamber musician in France, in Europe, in USA and in Asia. Her partner of predilection is the violonist Nemanja Radulovic. In May 2001 Laure Favre-Kahn was unanimously awarded first prize at the International Pro Piano Competition in New York. The following October she played at the famous Carnegie Recital Hall. After the concert she was voted ‘Pro Piano Artist of the Year, 2001’. In 2003 she made a recording of works by Reynaldo Hahn for Pro Piano Records, New York, which received a glowing review in the New York Times. Laure Favre-Kahn has already recorded four albums since the beginning of her career.
