A Sensory Journey This Arts Month:
The 5th Backdoor Ventures Arts & Music Festival

By Yanna Verbo Acosta

The most anticipated arts and music event is set to astonish its guests yet again this Arts Month…

The Backdoor Ventures Arts & Music Festival is back on its original staging in the month of February – and rightfully so – in celebration of the National Arts Month. Now on its 5th year, the annual Artsfest is lined up with an ever-diversifying roster of artists never before gathered under one roof!

The past four years have proven to be a success; and as such, Backdoor Ventures vows to deliver a bigger and better Artsfest that its growing number of guests keep coming back for more! Set to grace the stage with brilliant performances are The Halili-Cruz Ballet, Teatro Flamenco, The Maguindanaon Kulintangan Group, Kenyo, Sinosikat, Drip, Abby Asistio, Blue Jean Junkies, Eternal Now, Stonefree, Aisaku Yokogawa, Olivia, Layag, Talahib, Matilda, Nicole & Carlo, Project Fusion, Nityalila, The Late Isabel, Project Ganymede, The Slave Drum, The Chongkeys, Bembol Rockers, Skabeche, Glasspoint, Sing India, Alamid, The Camerawalls, Kapatid, Kadangyan, FMD, Fabi Mesquita, Sanctus, Timog, Miko Pepito, Romancing Venus, Alakpa, Peryodiko, DJ Alex Wong, and Kimosabe  among many others.

For this year, the Artsfest added more activities for the guests to enjoy. To name a few, The Agimat Project will be hosting a comic and illustration workshop entitled “Guhit Pelikulang Pinoy.” Dr. Vim Nadera will conduct a Creative Writing workshop. A dance/event photography workshop will be facilitated by Vic Ursabia of Ballet Philippines. Musicians and budding music producers will definitely enjoy the Music Production Workshop with panelists Jerome Velasco – awarded music producer; Clem Castro of Lilystars Records; and Pat Tirano of WombWorks Studios. Schools and Universities will also participate in the three-day event.

Indeed, it’s a gathering – if not THE gathering – of artists, aficionados; practically anyone and everyone craving for an artistic journey.

All this and so much more make the annual Backdoor Ventures Arts & Music Festival a household name in artistic events. It has made its mark as the pioneering event of its kind in the country. Most definitely, it is an endeavor worth looking forward to, year after year.

“We are beyond ecstatic to reach our fifth year, and we are looking forward to more years for the Arts & Music Festival hereafter. The support from the arts and music community is just overwhelming, it really touches our hearts,” festival director Jay Viriña relates. “The success of the Artsfest is more for the growing family of artists joining in and the guests who come to the event year after year, more than ours. The Backdoor Ventures Team thanks each and everyone of you. Most certainly, it inspires us to make the Artsfest bigger and better every year.”

This annual affair is supported by the NCCA, MTV, PULP, BOSE, ARGON ANIMATION, DIGIPOST, INQUIRER.NET, PLDT myDSL WATCHPAD, ADOBO MAGAZINE, ANC, UR 105.9, NU 107, BUSINESS WORLD, AGIMAT.NET, and ODYSSEY LIVE.NET.
