Manila Contemporary is pleased to present a unique exhibition of new works straight from the studios of selected artists: Felix Bacolor, Jon Cuyson, Christina Quisumbing Ramilo, Joseph Tecson and Costantino Zicarelli. The exhibition acts as a platform for fresh ideas and experiments as well as ongoing themes and artistic concerns.
The artist studio is a mysterious behind the scenes place often hidden from public audiences. As a testing ground for new forms it is also acts as silent refuge for the completion and safe storage of work. Functioning as laboratory and incubator the studio then becomes a rich resource of objects and thought processes for future exhibitions. Curators, writers, collectors and gallerists are among the specially invited few who get to experience these intimate artistic worlds.
Direct from the studios of… attempts to give wider audiences a special insight into this secretive environment. This organic previewing of artworks therefore aims to bridge the gap between private and public as well as showcasing the latest developments of contemporary artists in the Philippines.
