The Lasallian Arts Month (LAM), organized by the Benilde Culture and Arts Unit (BCAU, formerly known as Office of Culture and Arts) through the Cultural Promotions Team (CPT), is now in its 16th year. It will serve as a platform for performances, artist talks, and community art by young people.
This year, LAM aims to celebrate National Arts Month by enjoining artists in the community to use their talents and skills in raising awareness and taking a stand. Not being able to perform live since the pandemic happened, many cultural workers assimilated to the online platform to continue creating and collaborating with their fellow artists. The rising challenges affecting the arts and culture sector are rooted in deep-seated issues. Our society has undeniably changed, and it exposed cracks that paved way for movements and clamor for social justice.

LAM opens with a collaboration between young artists. We asked young artists how they see themselves, and what they think their art is for. All answers and art submissions were collated, and will be shown in a video art performance on our official YouTube channel, Art is Here, and on the BCAU Facebook page.
