Mechanics
- The Competition is open to all interested students, young filmmakers science communicators, scientists and researchers in the country;
- It has two categories:
(a) Youth Category – for high school and tertiary students, and out-of-school youth, aged 15-20 years old;
(b) Open Category – for scientists, engineers, researchers, amateur filmmakers, and science communicators;
- Science Professionals from other government agencies teaming up with filmmakers are allowed to join, except for DOST-SEI employees
- The entry should be in the form of documentary based on scientific facts related to this year’s theme:
Youth Category: What My Community Needs Now through S&T
Open Category: What the Philippines Needs Now through S&T
Topic Areas:
• Environment and Climate Change Adaptation
• Agriculture
• Disaster Mitigation
• Traffic / Road Congestion
• Food Safety and Security
• Security
• Education
• Health
• Entrepreneurship
- Those interested to join the competition should submit an accomplished Entry Form, which includes a description of the film to be produced as entry on or before August 3, 2018
- Interested participants may submit their concept thru google form at http://bit.ly/IS_entryformEntry forms may also be downloaded at DOST-SEI Website: www.sei.dost.gov.ph and submitted thru email at indiesiyensya@gmail.com
- The Board of Judges will conduct a preliminary screening of the entries based on the film concept submitted and select those qualified to submit their film entry. Selected film concepts will be notified thru email.
- Entries should be in English, in Filipino, or in any regional language with corresponding English subtitle.
- Only original music should be used in the film.
- For individuals appearing in the film, a consent form should be submitted together with the film entry. The consent form may be accessed through this link http://bit.ly/IS_consentform
- The total running time per film entry should be up to ten (10) minutes including opening and closing billboards.
- Deadline of submission of entries is on October 15, 2018. Entries should be uploaded in MP4 or MOV file formats via dropbox link (TBA) or may be sent by courier using flashdrive or DVD to DOST SEI at:

DOST Compound, Bicutan, Taguig City
- The organizers and judges reserve the right to reject entries deemed to contain obscenity, nudity, and violence.
- A Viewer’s Choice Special Award will be given to the entry with the most number of votes during the film screening period.
- The right to the reproduction and distribution of the entry shall remain with the respective filmmakers.
- Winning films will also be shown during the Science Film Festival season in the Philippines in November 2018 at the various screening venues of DOST-SEI
- The winning entries will be selected based on the following criteria:

- The best entry to each of the categories will be awarded with a Certificate of Recognition and a Cash Prize:
