Characters from Philippine mythology like the manananggal, white lady, duwende and kapre will be portrayed in a different light through stories that cast them as protagonists. They are either funny or philosophical, caught up in circumstances where they meet different creatures, mortal and otherwise. The exhibit runs until August 19. Manuel “Manix” Abrera (b. 1982) received his bachelor’s degree from the College of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines, Diliman in 2003 and is presently doing his Masters on the same university. Known for his award-winning Kikomachine Komix publications, Abrera has been exposed to work in the field of editorial cartoons and comic series. He has given talks and workshops in universities and organizations, and has exhibited in different art institutions including Pablo Gallery (twice in 2010), Manila Contemporary (2011), Vargas Museum (2014) and Erehwon Center for the Arts (2014).
