In Fancy, Caloy Gernale sets forth a provocative exploration of how the manipulation of sociopolitical dynamics has created a terrifying imbalance in our country’s power structure. His exhibition is centered around the concept of “fool’s gold”, and how its deceptive allure of wealth was peddled by the Marcos regime to secure a dictatorial throne of power. Under the guise of national prosperity, the Tallano gold myth was planted in the minds of the people. Like a silent poison, it was bred inside the mind of a growing nation, nurtured by the blind promise of untold riches and unimaginable power. -Dave Lock
