(Last/Dying Breath)

Breathing is one of the most underrated mysteries of the world. Every living creature equipped with lungs performs the act of breathing, whether through air or water. It is an involuntary process governed by lung capacity and strength. Through breathing, we intake the necessary oxygen, which flows through our blood and sustains brain function. Essentially, breathing is life itself. We will do whatever it takes to keep breathing. But have we ever wondered what the most important breaths in life are? They are the joy of your first breath and the sorrow of your last. Both are significant and meaningful; both can change a life. However, the last breath carries the weight of the unique stories written for you and the experiences of a lifetime.

In this exhibition by Pangasinense artists, we offer a glimpse into our understanding of life, stories that will surely resonate with us until our last breath. Through the artists’ talent and skill, their visual creations convey the stories of life where we begin to dream, create our visions, and choose our missions. The exhibition reveals that while the narrative of life can be dark and chaotic, it also includes moments of hope. We question morality, yet we fear frailty. These tales are common to us all, and in the end, as we take our last breath, they form a worthy memory to complete our life’s story.
