Pineapple Lab and People of Interest present the world premiere of “A&Q”, a documentary devised theater piece that investigates the biggest problems of the Philippines through testimony, song, and dance.
NYC Fil-Am director/choreographer Jesca Prudencio returns to Manila to reimagine this original documentary theatre piece exploring the Answers & Questions surrounding people affected by the drug problem in the Philippines. Based on interviews conducted with real people living in barangays around Manila, this captivating interactive production tackles “the problem” through testimony, karaoke songs, and zumba dance with a team of Filipino and American theater artists.
Originally presented in December 2017, A&Q is an international collaboration funded by the generous support of the San Diego State University and features Bong Cabrera, Bunny Cadag, and Opaline Santos, with design by Justin Humphres and dramaturgy by Mark B. Mirando.

Jesca Prudencio
Jesca Prudencio is a director and choreographer focused on creating highly physical productions of new plays, musicals, and documentary theater nationally, and internationally. Directing credits include Calling (La MaMa ETC), Anna Moench’s Man of God (East West Players), Will Snider’s How To Use a Knife (Mixed Blood), A&Q (UP Theater), and FAN: stories from the brothels of Bangkok (B-Floor, Thailand). Her critically acclaimed productions of Qui Nguyen’s Vietgone and Anna Ziegler’s Actually at San Diego Repertory Theatre received multiple Craig Noel nominations including Outstanding Director. She is a recipient of The Old Vic’s T.S. Eliot US/UK Exchange Fellowship, The Drama League Fellowship, and the inaugural Julie Taymor World Theater Fellowship. Jesca is Artistic Director/Founder of People Of Interest, dedicated to creating community specific documentary theater works. She is currently Head of Directing at San Diego State University. People of Interest
People of Interest is a nonprofit theater company dedicated to creating theatrical experiences around individual stories worth further attention. POI gives voice to the voiceless, and reveals the hidden truths through new original work. Created by theater director Jesca Prudencio, POI serves a community of individuals committed to creating work for the people, by the people. Recent productions include “Nohing: a docu-dance on sexual assault in public spaces” in NYC, “FAN: stories from the brothels of Bangkok” created in collaboration with B-Floor Theatre in Bangkok Thailand, and “A&Q: answers and questions” created in Manila, Philippines. Bong Cabrera
Bong is an award winning Film/Theater/ actor from the Philippines. He won acting awards from Accollade Global Film Competition in the US, and URDUJA Film Festival for the film “The Sun Behind You”, Cine Filipino Festival for the film “The Guerrilla is a Poet”, Cinema One Originals Film festival for the film“Sa Ilalim ng Tulay” (Under the Bridge), and from GAWAD BUHAY(PHILSTAGE AWARDS) for the play “KUDETA” (The Coup).
From 2004 to 2010, he was a resident actor of Tanghalang Pilipino at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He was awarded the Asian Cultural Council Fellow in 2010, which allowed him to undertake further study in New York for Suzuki and Viewpoints,Meisner Technique, Alexander and Voice Techniques, Contact Improv , Rehearsal Techniques and Ensemble training.
Internationally, he performed in Tokyo, Shanghai, Nagoya, and New York. In between filming and working on projects with my theatre company KOLAB CO., He also teaches theatre classes in three schools: De La Salle College of St. Benilde, Philippine High School for the Arts, and St. Paul College-Pasig. He is currently an International Schools Theater Association (ISTA) artist and he facilitates Drama workshops in ISTA theater festivals around the globe.
Bunny Cadag
Bunny Cadag was born in 1991 in Laguna, Philippines. Cadag works predominantly in the medium of theater and performance research and making. *They was an Actors’ Company Scholar of the Tanghalang Pilipino, the Resident Theater Company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. They was recognized as Best Featured Actor (Play) in 2016 Broadway World Philippines Awards and was cited as one of the 20 Modern Filipinas Who Made Waves in 2017 and one of the Lodis of 2017: People who deserve more werpa (power) in 2018. Cadag’s contemporary performance works are mostly about how gender is perceived and performed in the Philippines. In April 2017, they participated in a multidisciplinary transcultural exchange on body-related performance making in Antwerp, Belgium. They participated in the Tokyo Performing Arts Meeting 2019 in Yokohama, Japan, and had a singing performance with the Filipino Superwoman Band in Sharjah Biennial 2019. They lives and works in Quezon City, Metro Manila.

Opaline Santos
Opaline Santos is an actor, teacher and a cultural worker.
As an actor, she did productions with Tanghalang Pilipino, Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), Dulaang UP, UP Playwrights’ Theatre, Tanghalang Ateneo, Ikarus, Ma-isug Performance Group, Project Mayheim and films shown at the Cinemalaya, Cinema One and QCinema Festivals.
In 2016, she participated in the Asian Performing Arts Forum (APAF) in Tokyo, Japan. In 2017, she performed her solo work, “Lunas” at the FRINGE MNL Festival. In 2018, she did a one-woman show under the Dulaang UP directed by José Estrella, based on a novel by Eimear McBride “A Girl Is A Half-Formed Thing”, translation by Rody Vera, “Ang Dalagita’y ‘Sang Bagay na ‘Di-Buo”. She recently did Carlo Paulo Pacolor’s “Brujas” performed in different galleries and museums over Metro Manila.
She is currently working on “Somewhere Else Instead” under the Langgam Performance Troupe, Ikarus’ “Theater Bytes – Plug N Play” and Federico Garcia Lorca’s “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” in Dulaang UP.
She also teaches in Miriam College under the Communication Department.
