De La Salle University’s Team Comm and DLS-College of Saint Benilde School of Design and Arts’ Benildean Filmworks are organizing “A Festival of Freedom in Films ONEMALAYA” from February 23 to March 2 at the DLSU Manila Yuchengco Building Room 407 and the SDA Cinema.
The festival will showcase some of the best films from the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival and the Cinema One Originals Digital filmfest throughout their decade of existence. There will also be a series of film forums with young filmmakers and esteemed directors from the industry.
Cinema One Originals finalists “Shift” directed by Siege Ledesma, “Kabisera” directed by Borgy Torre, and “Bendor” directed by Ralston Jover will be shown at the DLSU Yuchengco Bldg. Rm. 407 on February 23, Feb. 24, and Feb. 26, respectively, from 1 p.m. onwards.
On the other hand, the SDA Cinema plays host to ONEMALAYA as it screens Cinemalaya finalists “Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me” directed by Erick Salud on Feb. 23, 1 p.m., “Oros” directed by Paul Sta. Ana on Feb. 24, 3 p.m., “Niño” directed by Loy Arcenas on Feb. 26, 3 p.m., “Mayohan” directed by Dan Villegas on Feb. 27, 1 p.m., and “Purok 7” directed by Carlo Obispo on March 2, 1 p.m.
A director’s forum will be held on Feb. 26 at the SDA Cinema with Villegas and Gino Santos engaging other young filmmakers to a talk from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, while veteran filmmakers Joel Lamangan, Mel Chionglo, and Joey Romero, among others, are expected to share their expertise and insights from the industry from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
ONEMALAYA film screenings and director’s forum are open to the public. Admission is free.
