Binong Javier’s unique pointillist abstraction method involves meticulously dripping tiny flecks of acrylic all over a canvas to produce a magnificent gradient of colors. The result is a work of art that implores the viewer to take a second look, once from up close and once from a distance. This distinctive and painstaking technique has bagged him multiple accolades in major art competitions including the Metrobank Art Competition and the GSIS National Art Competition.
Artist’s statement
Ano ba ang mga lakbayin ng buhay? Puno ng kulay, bawat oras at minuto na tinatakbo nito, madilim at maliwanag, maputla at matingkad. Bawat daan, bawat nararamdaman, bawat paghinga. Sabi nga nila, “May oras para sa lahat ng bagay.” Sa tingin ko, ang bawat oras o panahon ay may kulay. Kulay na halo-halo na nagbibigay ningning sa bawat panahon, bawat patak ng ating buhay.
Tunay nga na ang lahat ng pinagsama samang patak ng kulay ay tulad ng pinagsama samang karanasan — malungkot, madilim, masaya — na iyong mababalikan kalakip ang isang buntong hininga at pagpapasalamat sa Itaas. Ito ang mga kulay na yayakap sa iyo at magsisilbing alaala at gabay sa mga daan na gusto mong lakarin o kung minsan, takbuhin.
Tuloy tuloy lang ang buhay, tulad ng mga pinagsama samang patak ng kulay.
What are the journeys we take in life? Every hour, every minute, full of color – dark, bright, pale, vivid — each path, each emotion, every breath. Others say, “There is a time for everything.” For me, I think every hour or season is colored— mixed colors that give radiance to every phase, every drop of our lives.
It is true that all the combined drops of color are like life’s pooled experiences – sad, dark, and happy moments– that you can revisit with a sigh and gratitude to the Supreme Being. These are the colors that will embrace you and serve as your memories and guide on the paths you choose to walk, or sometimes run, on.
Life goes on, just like the combined multitude of drops of color.
