“Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it.”
– Tori Amos
We all have our different wounds and with it are different healing processes. But how different it may be, healing will always take a lot of courage– the courage to step up, ask questions, and take action.
It takes guts to face the pain and acknowledge the wounds. Because to truly heal a wound, you have to open it, look through it, and see what has caused it.
This year, as the Office of Culture and Arts launches the 15th Lasallian Arts Month, we aim to utilize art as a platform to shed light on the different wounds we face in our environment, our society, and ourselves– transforming the pain and going beyond them towards an envisioned positive change.
Art has indeed been testified to heal the soul. However, the range of how art heals is not only about personal healing, but also how these artistic expressions transform from suffering and become an instrument for societal transformation. Art can heal from within and the world entirely.
