The Cultural Center of the Philippines, through the Office of the CCP President Arsenio J. Lizaso presents the works of renowned Filipino poet Jose Corazon de Jesus, more known as Huseng Batute through an online performance.
This special show, which combines live theater and film (animation/visual effects), celebrates the life and selected works of the “King of Balagtasan”, and also marks the beloved Filipino poet’s 126th Birth Anniversary.
Directed by award-winning actor Ricky Davao, with acclaimed theater director Dennis N. Marasigan as the Writer and Assistant Director, “AWIT AT TULA: PAGBABALIK-TANAW SA UNANG HARI NG BALAGTASAN” is a brainchild of CCP President Nick Lizaso which promises a fascinating retrospective of Huseng Batute’s powerful works, while touching on relevant topics today. This online production also features performances from some of the most respected artists in the industry such as Film and TV actors John Arcilla, Michael V., and Epy Quizon; Theater actors Via Antonio, Sheila Valderrama-Martinez, Arman Ferrer, David Ezra, and Lara Maigue; and premiere ventriloquist Ony Carcamo.
