Six Thomasians pay homage to UST, to their alma mater, to Father Benavides.

BENAVIDES III The Benavides Art Group Thomasian artists, Eric Cachero, Rey de Guzman, Jaime Delos Santos, Pedro Garcia, Ninoy Lumboy and Noli Vicedo bonded to form an art group. They are united for their love of the arts, their zeal for their craft and in the Thomasian spirit of upholding beauty in goodness, in truth, and on faith in God. Being UST alumni, they initially gathered in the area of the Plaza Mayor, in front of the UST main building, by the monument of Fr. Benavides. There they enjoyed time sketching and sharing memories of their respective college years in the university. Thus the group’s name was inspired by Fr. Benavides, the founder of the university, which they all agreed is the most befitting acknowledgement to the Dominican priest. They also equate their individual “Good Life” with Buena Vida or as they colloquially say, BenaVides!

As a group, they are prolific in style and genre. They are united to creatively move in the mission of promoting goodness, beauty and truth with their formalistic compositions. They also share in the common vision of establishing a niche in the local and international art scene while enhancing their craft and advocating the betterment of art while living out the good life. BenaVides!

This is the group’s third show, and they carry no title for their every show, thus it creates a wide array of ideas and visuals just as their artistic minds are boundless and limitless.
