ABOUT HIS WORKS
Punk-U’s recent work define as “NOIR MYSTERY” the invention of future surrealism as symbol of skull and hole. He is the founder of PINTULA a surrealist painting and poems and he also created the movement “SKULLISM” a symbol to fight the disease of the society symbol of his art + faith it’s like a process of pain dedicated to the memory of her mother.
Punk-U’s began his evolution career as sound artist performer since 2016. When he met sound artist Mel Araneta and Mark Rambo, at Viva Excon in Iloilo city. The influence of his life’s work and then the rest is history. For the artist his new stage name Punk-U is only the beginning of his career, return as full time artist after 11 years of coma after her mother died in 2008. Since then the artist dark times stop painting and never show in the public again.
Those experience in life and hardship lead him to path and quest toward self-discovery which began to study circuit bending to fusion art and technology as future art in his time in this digital world. The surrealistic symbol of his futuristic expressed vision, the artist method in mind filled with his paintings and drawings of circuit connection, hole, dreams of stars, poems, lights and noise sound and time as reflection of process, progress and change. The influence of his work like master painter Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Joan Miro and Reed Ghazala an experimental instrument builder as the “father of circuit bending”.
Symbolism and style development of origin of Punk-U.
For the artist learning to move on is facing memories head first, most especially painful ones. That like a sharp blade can hurt while piercing the heart deep within when vividly recalled. As life would have it, memories of loss still retain their sting amidst the time passed yet these painful moments were also inspiring times for this growing artist where he recalls visiting his mother’s grave in order to keep her company in silence while expressing his sorrow through art, sound and poems and surrealistic emotions within as his forte.
Punk with a cause the artist dislikes politics and influence of system it does the artist aim to promote their work with much freedom. This like noble freedom fighters of the colonial period that carried skulls as symbols of their break away, Punk – U does the same though silent strokes of the brush alongside poetry which speaks loudly directed.
