FILM SYNOPSIS
The movie Edna is a unique take about real and imagined fears of overseas Filipino workers, as characterized by Edna (Irma Adlawan). Staged in three parts- Oro (Edna’s arrival), Plata (Edna’s discovery) and Mata (Edna’s resolve)- the film attempts to walk the audience from a thrilling arrival to an astonishing departure.
PRODUCER’S BIO
Tonet Gedang is a multi-awarded producer and storyteller. His earlier film, Ataul for Rent (2007) which stars Joel Torre, Jaclyn Jose, Irma Adlawan, and Ronnie Lazaro, has been selected and competed in 9 international film festivals such as the Montreal World, Udine Far East, Puchon, Chennai, Kolkata, Festroia, Pune, Kerala, and Cairo; and has been officially selected in Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Cinemalaya. In 2008, Ataul for Rent won Best Story, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Screenplay in the 56th FAMAS Awards; won Best Production Design and nominated for Best Movie and Best Supporting Actress in the 24th PMPC Star Awards for Movies; nominated for Best Actress, Best Music, and Best Supporting Actress in the 5th Golden Screen Awards; and won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best in Music in the 10th Gawad PASADO Awards.
The movie Edna (2014) is Tonet Gedang’s latest project.
DIRECTOR’S BIO
Ronnie Lazaro is a well renowned theatre, movie, and television actor. Throughout his acting career, Ronnie Lazaro has received nine nominations for Best Supporting Actor and two for Best Actor. His films have always been recognized locally and abroad. His versatility in acting and love for films encouraged him to direct one, entitled Edna, which dramatizes a different take on the life of a Filipino overseas worker.
