The Filipino Arts & Cinema, International or FACINE, a nonprofit media arts organization, is committed to develop and promote Filipino-American media arts and advance the interests of cinemas from the Philippines and the Filipino diaspora.

> ESOTERIKA: MAYNILA [99 min] Quasi-fantastical, quasi-realistic, the male protagonist narrates his transition from restaurant peon to literary artist, a journey to self-discovery, a map to the secrets of the city.

> QUIRA [14 min] A young woman warrior takes revenge on a rival tribe which killed her family.
> THE GUERRILLA IS A POET [135 min] A docu-drama which tells of an activist’s journey, Jose Maria Sison – founder of Kabataang Makabayan, the patriotic youth movement – during the turbulent years of Philippines martial law, until his capture in the mountains and the dark nine years of incarceration in the Marcos prisons leading to his birth as a poet.

Recently-honored as Ramon Magsaysay awardee for arts and culture – the Asia’s Nobel Prize, Ligaya Fernando Amilbangsa, the major proponent of pangalay, an indigenous dance form, returns to Tawi-Tawi, the source of her inspiration to documenting for posterity the culture and the arts of the Sulu Archipelago.

> ANG ALAMAT NI CHINA DOLL [83 min] Through its disjointed narrative, marked by a powerful performance by Angelica Panganiban, a young Chinese-Filipina who fell into the clutches of a mafia-like gang of extortionists, relives an uneasy history of kidnapping and abduction of Chinese Filipinos for ransom.

> PAMANHIKAN [29 min] Same-sex marriage explored in the context of an interracial relationship.

> SHUNNED [70 min] A stunning eye-opener of a documentary, the filmmaker handles with grace the telling of various stories, sad and happy, of transgender Filipinas, the challenges they face in their daily lives.

> THE END OF WAR [18 min] A Maguindanaoan family caught in the war between government and the insurgent forces.
> BUKAS NA LANG SAPAGKAT GABI NA [100 min] Four interconnected tales set at the height of the Philippine martial law’s crackdown on insurgents reflect the palpable aura of fear that has Filipinos in a state of paralysis, unable and unwilling to move until the dark cloud of history passes on.

> Theatre location: Accessible from the 22, 14, 49 and 33 bus lines, two blocks west of the 16th Street BART stop, and three blocks east of the J-Church line. Public parking is available at the 16TH & HOFF GARAGE, on Hoff Street between Mission and Valencia off 16th.
> All shows will take place at The Little Roxie, 49-seat theatre
> Films in Bisaya, Tagalog, Illocano, and other indigenous languages will have English subtitles.
