You don’t know how paralyzing that is, that stare of a blank canvas is, which says to the painter, ‘You can’t do a thing’. The canvas has an idiotic stare and mesmerizes some painters so much that they turn into idiots themselves.
~ Vincent van Gogh
“Flow” means continuous energy surge. An unforced movement that looks easy to the eyes. It is loose yet aesthetically pleasing. The blending of the elements, positive and negative spatial relations and vice versa.
Composition is like a train of thought. It is a long and tedious process of reinvention, reworking and rearrangement of components to work together in harmonious symphony of balance and unity.
Artists spend hours on conceptualizing ideas prior to their actual studio work or even changing it spontaneously by assimilating their medium with the technique used during the process. It is mostly a hit or miss by young artists and a calming experience by seasoned ones.
In this exhibit, participating artists are challenged to create complex compositions which is nowadays less used compared to simple and minimalistic renditions.
