In celebration of Universal Human Rights Day this December, Gateway Gallery invites you to a meaningful talk that highlights our marginalized brothers and sisters– our country’s indigenous groups.
Two speakers, Dr. Jimmy Fong and Klarise Fortaleza, will be providing updated information and insights on the local knowledge and resilience of our country’s IPs. Dr. Jimmy Fong is the Dean of the College of Arts and Communication at the University of the Philippines Baguio. He holds a doctorate in Philippine Studies. He will discuss the local knowledge or wisdom of the IPs and how they apply it in their daily life and customs.
Klarise Fortaleza will talk about the resilience of the IPs, their rights, and the challenges they face. She will also delve into the programs and actions that the Commission on Human Rights has done for our IPs. She is the current Officer-in-Charge of the Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights Center under the Centers Management Office of the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines. Her work in the ESCR Center focuses mainly on business and human rights, environment and climate change, human settlements, and indigenous peoples.
INDIGENIUS is the last KulturaSerye for the year 2021. The event is free and will be streamed live on Gateway Gallery’s Facebook Page.
Certificates of Attendance will be issued to viewers who will answer the online survey form after the webinar.
