Our daily survival can be paralleled to a contest of chance with a mythological sentinel, a modern-day Cerberus which overseers a reality hardly distinguishable from hell. A winner-takes-all gamble that corners us to stake everything but always leads to a certain conclusion for the challenger, defeat. “Janken” embodies multiplicity of inquiries. An amalgam of ancient mythology, sociopolitical factors, or maybe an innocent child’s game of chance.
As we delve deeper into the fissures of our modern-day society, the guise of the three-headed guardian melts off, revealing anthropomorphic delineations. Projecting reflections of familiar forms; us.
