The creative process behind this works involves introspection of the artist’s raw emotions. At a certain point of creative production, one may feel physical exhaustion and emotional burn out.

The R Gallery took its pride to present the works of 12 featured artists: Marius Black, Guada Ramos Funtillar, Romnick Diez, Micko Macariola, Charmaigne Mendoza, Nikko Pelaez, Erwin Pineda, Rommel Ramota, Arvin Santos, Ian Jo Semira, Mori, and Raymon Guevarra. In this homecoming exhibition, we celebrate each artist’s individualism as they have their peculiar ways to tell a story. In wrestling with their inner emotions, they find consolation in memories of the real and imaginary past, and immerse themselves in seemingly solitary yet chaotic environment. The featured works reveal the trace of the artists’ creative processes as well as their intimate and continuous contact with their materials. For these artists, such methods of artmaking become the means for coping with the pandemic situation.

The mixed array of artworks give form to the notion that returning home or to the self is a cause to celebrate. By turning the spotlight on sustainable inner dialogues, these artists encourage us to become patient listeners of our own selves. In doing so, they allow us to reflect on and share our anxieties, emotions, and vulnerabilities, thus paving the way for restoring and further exploring connections around us. Share your thoughts with us or reflect with a creative output!
