Juxtaposition is the idea of placing two concepts or objects next to or near each other, thereby highlighting their innate differences and similarities. The duo exhibition shows how these two artists’s work intersect and converse.
Ragma’s art investigates the concept of diagonals in the toy puzzle called the Rubik’s Cube particularly the “Ghost Cube.” Inspired by these ideas, he creates linear structures; abstract forms in diagonal compositions. We also see Ragma expanding his horizons as an artist by exploring new colors and textures, adding an almost ethereal quality to his work.
Sandiego’s works tackle the idea of two opposite things such as life and death, nature and the artificial, and light and darkness. This creates a conceptual balance resulting in surreal worlds that beckon to be explored.
Ragma and Sandiego’s collaboration is the literal juxtaposition of vision: minute diagonal lines cross and intersect while clouds peek through the spaces. It’s a combination of precision and softness; the juxtaposition between two artists seeking new ways to create art.
