Philstage Gawad Buhay Awardee, Nonon Padilla Stages a Carlos Palanca Award Winning Play, Larawan Ng Pilipino Bilang Artist(a)
The De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde’s pioneering batch of Theater Arts Batch 115 will be staging Nonon Padilla’s Larawan ng Pilipino Bilang Artist(a) as their thesis this coming November 21-24, 2018, November 28-29, 2018, and December 1, 2018 with shows at 1PM and 7PM at the SDA Theater, School of Design and Arts Bldg., 950 P. Ocampo Street, Malate, Manila.
Larawan ng Pilipino Bilang Artist(a) is a comedic sequel of National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin’s Portrait of An Artist as Filipino. This play has won a Carlos Palanca Memorial Award for Literature in the year 1988, written by Nonon Padilla. The play revolves around the story of the Marasigan sisters of Calle Real back from New York, after flying to the land to escape the Japanese attack in World War II. After 30 years of living abroad, the famous Paula and Candida are back, not in Intramuros- but in Forbes Park. A different place with a reversed situation from their life before yet throughout the play, pages from the past slowly unfolds and brings back the horrors of the past aligned with the horrors of the present.
Directed and written by Philstage Gawad Buhay Awardee, Nonon Padilla, starring the acting track students of Benilde: Christian Cusi, Karina Valdez, Kyle Confesor, Herc Ang, Doori Chin, accompanied with the sterling cast: Stella Mendoza, Sherry Lara, Bembol Roco, Jaime Yambao, Mosang, and Alan Bautista. This is truly a production you don’t want to miss!
