The annual Mabuhay Philippines Festival Gala is a celebration of Philippine heritage and culture. Our special guest this year is Dora award winning artist, Ma-Anne Dionisio along with Emilio Zarris and Martha Joy. In addition, a sneak peak of the festival fashion show featuring local designers and the work of internationally renowned designer Ditta Sandico will be shown.

Dora Mavor Moore Award Winner, Ma-Anne Dionisio, To Highlight The 2019 Mabuhay Philippines Festival Gala Toronto
PIDC is pleased to announce that the 2019Mabuhay Philippines Festival, will headline Dora Awardee, Ma-Anne Dionisio.Ms. Dionisio was recently recognized for her “Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role, Musical Theatre”, in the production “Next to Normal”, this past June. Ms. Dionisio is a globally recognized talent in the world of musical theatre and many will recall her role in Miss Saigon, in which she played the lead role of Kim. Ms. Dionisio has also performed in Les Misérables, portraying the same character (Eponine), which catapulted another Filipina musical legend, Ms. Lea Salonga, onto the global stage.
Also featured in the evening’s program will be the vocal talents of Emilio Zarris and Martha Joy, both of whom boast distinguished pedigrees and are celebrated performers within the Filipino-Canadian community.
The Gala will be hosted at The Toronto Sheraton Centre Hotel, in downtown Toronto, on August 22, 2019. Keeping guests engaged will be our beautiful co-emcees for the evening, Christina Carpio, Editor in Chief MarQuee Magazine and Host of Going Global on Amazon Prime together with CP24’s Kayla Marieto.
PIDC would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to TD Bank; CIBC; World Financial Group (WFG); Philippine Airlines; Knowledge First; the Government of Canada; and the Government of Ontario, for supporting and sponsoring an event that celebrates the Filipino-Canadian community, along with diversity.The evening’s programme will start at 7:00pm and guests are reminded that the attire for the evening is either Filipiniana or Business Attire.
The Gala is the kick-off to the Mabuhay Philippines Festival, which will take place on August 24th and 25th, at Nathan Phillips Square. Attendees will be treated to several cultural performances, a fashion showcase, as well as a variety of vendors. In addition, the Festival will feature several activities for families and children, a basketball tournament and a beer garden. Of course, the main attraction of the Festival, will be the parade, which takes place on August 25th,and showcases some of the many different traditions and cultures from the Philippines, and generally includes many distinguished members of the political community, supporting and recognizing the contributions of the Filipino-Canadian community.
