Marinduque to host Regional Science and Technology Week during Celebrate Islands Week

 

Boac, Marinduque – This year’s Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Mimaropa Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) is going to be hosted by Marinduque from May 16 to 18 during the Celebrate Islands Week. This year’s theme of the in-person RSTW is “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan” at Marinduque State College (MSC) gymnasium.

RSTW opens with press conference with local media, student journalists and S&T enthusiasts. The said activity would be followed by a forum on Blue Economy with specific focus on Abalone and Sea Cucumber and Hatchery and Grow-out for fresh water species. In addition to the first day, there would also be a forum on Itik Pinas Technology. Meanwhile, for the RSTW guests, there would be a project visit and cultural night to cap the opening.

Then by Tuesday, RSTW would proceed with a forum on Tissue Cultured Dwarf Banana, s&T Trends and opportunities for Makapuno and Coconut with embryo cultured makapuno. Then the highlight of the RSTW 2nd day is the Halal Assurance System and Manual workshop for Marinduque’s MSMEs for invited participants likewise for the project visit by May 17.

The last day of RSTW would shed light on E-mobility with a forum, in addition there would also be a spotlight on waste management technologies with advanced manufacturing. The last day of the RSTW would be an awarding ceremonies for TechnoBYAHE for Technopreneurship and Best Technopreneur awards, Smart Community Award and Mimaropa Innovation Award.

Celebrate Islands is an annual event co-organized by Conservatoire du littoral and the like-minded non-governmental and civil society organizations since 2014. The Celebrate Islands took in applications for the 120 second project proposals in video format between February 21 to May 3. Then the opening of public voting and jury evaluation for the video contest is from May 10 until the 16th. Meanwhile, the diffusion of initiatives carried out by and for small islands and the festive week of Celebrate Islands is from May 10 to 17.
