To feel a true sense of significance you have to find a purpose and meaning to your life. Many search for meaning and relevance through social status, materialism or by other means, only to find themselves at some point feeling empty and without a real purpose in life. These are some truth that Amos Malayao and Arvie Dedicatoria are trying to decipher in their two man exhibit “MOMENTOUS”
With subjects centered on inanimate objects such as sculptures and often paired with plant elements escaping from the crevices. These are a direct comparison of the artists’ current state, as they face a major turning point of make or break. Malayao and Dedicatioria shared a common fascination with sculptures describing it as an ethereal. However, in this is exhibition they wanted to convey a notion that no matter how solid the materials were, it will still be vulnerable for decay. As this solid sculptures stand the test of time, new life appears among its cracks just like the irony of life itself that we should allow the natural forces to break us to give way to new beginnings.
