MTP’s “The Fashion Gala” goes Timeless

Since 2015, MTP Production, headed by Mr. Mike Tagle, has produced fashion shows that involved designers, both emerging and masters of the craft. From a simple intent of giving the models from his modelling agency to walk the runway, the one-called “The Fashion Gala” became known for being a reputable fashion show, thus establishing credibility and positive acceptance from the critics in the fashion industry. Having said, MTP turned it into “Philippine Fashion Gala” in 2017.

Now on its fourth season, PhFG takes it up a notch by challenging itself to make the Philippines the next fashion capital of South East Asia, through its Spring/Summer 2019 show: Philippine Fashion Gala – Timeless. Over the years, the fashion gala has constantly changed, but has never lost its soul: to continuously showcase an array of state-of-the-art designs. Breaking through the years that have passed, the gala proudly owns its timelessness in the Philippine fashion industry, thus the name of the show.

A total of 35 designers are involved in the event: 22 local, 10 international, and 3 of the most successful and iconic Philippine designers Ronaldo Arnaldo, Patrick “Pat” Santos, and Hollywood designer Rocky Gathercole; all of them sharing the same stage on November 18, 2018 at Conrad Manila.

The event is divided into five shows: the MTP Production Cycle 6 Graduation Show, the Highstreet Show which will be ended by Ronaldo Arnaldo, the Luxe Show with Pat Santos, the Avant Garde Show with Rocky Gathercole, and the Spotlight: Global Runway Show.

According to Yna Mendez, designer from the Luxe Show and Brand Manager of PhFG – Timeless, all designers went through a mentorship session with the three iconic designers before starting the collection to make sure that all designs exceed, or if not, are at par with expectations. The three established designers humbly shared their knowledge from their experience in the industry to level up the collections of the designers without meddling with their inspiration and aesthetic. “This time, everything was taken to the next level: from the selection of designers, event venue, promotions, runway design, show direction. These are just some of the areas of this event that we made sure were different from our past shows, all this to put the spotlight to the Philippine fashion scene.”

But beyond creating an unforgettable show, PhFG actually is a nonprofit show. After the event, the production brings its proceeds to the “Haven for the Elderly” in Tanay, Rizal.

Bringing together all these designers in one event made history in the local fashion scene. Designers from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and United Kingdom, all flew to the country to create an unforgettable show with our very own designers from different parts of the country. Indeed, a timeless night brought to us by Philippine Fashion Gala.
