Teaching Philippine History with Museum Artifacts and Collections looks into the collections of selected historical museums such as: Chinatown Museum, Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo, Museo ng Katipunan, and Museo El Deposito. It aims to give teachers more insight on the breadth of these historical collections for them to utilize these during their online lectures.

JANINE MICHELLE CABATO
Curator
Chinatown Museum

JANINE CABATO oversaw the conceptualization and completion of Chinatown Museum. She has previously worked with NCCA sponsored art festivals at Mindanao. Before putting up Spark Museum at De La Salle Santiago Zobel School, she utilized her teaching license to share her love of art to high school students.
She has an Art Management degree from Ateneo de Manila University. She is in her element when immersing in creative projects, museums, and education.

 

JONEL RABUSA
Curator II
Museo El Deposito, San Juan City

JONEL BRINAS RABUSA is a public servant at the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) – Historic Sites and Education Division. He is handling Museo El Deposito, a museum focused on the history of Manila’s former waterworks and water reservoir.

Because of his deep interest in promoting Philippine history and heritage sites, he first entered government service in NHCP as a museum guide at the Museo ng Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio in Maragondon, Cavite. In 2017, he served as officer-in-charge of Museo ni Jesse Robredo in Naga City, Camarines Sur, a museum focused on the life and good governance practices of the former DILG secretary. Two years after, he was assigned as the curator of the Museum of Philippine Economic History in Iloilo City, NHCP’s first museum in Western Visayas.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Sta. Mesa, Manila.

 

CHRISTIAN MELENDEZ
Curator
Museo ng Katipunan

Christian Bernard Melendez built his career in two cultural agencies. He started his museum work at the Museo Pambata as a Museum Guide and later becoming the Museum Head Guide. He now works at the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) as the Senior Shrine Curator of the Museo ng Katipunan – Pinaglabanan Shrine located in San Juan City. His degree in history earned at the University of the East – Manila and his knack in arts and crafts are his substantial strengths utilized in educating the museum audience.

 

PAULETTE BEDRUZ
Curator II
Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo

HAIDEE PAULETTE BEDRUZ has worked with museums with varying backgrounds: historical, lifestyle, and arts. She was the Documentation Officer of Museo De La Salle, and the Museum Administrator of Museo Orlina in Tagaytay City. Her museum experiences range from Research, Collections Management, Exhibitions, and Museum Administration. A graduate of Philippine Arts major in Arts Management from the University of the Philippines Manila, she is currently the Shrine Curator II of the Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite.
