This tour is a guided visit to two buildings of the National Museum complex. This will be conducted through short lectures and walking commentaries. In the National Art Gallery, we will look into the lives and legacies of the most talented artists that the country had produced like Juan Luna, Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, Simon Flores, Fabian de la Rosa, the Tampincos, Fernando Amorsolo, Guillermo Tolentino, Napoleon Abueva, Victorio Edades, Vicente Manansala, Carlos “Botong” Francisco, BenCab, Ang Kiukok, and many others. The most celebrated works in the art gallery are the paintings in its Hall of Masters – Juan Luna’s Spoliarium and Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo’s The Assassination of Governor Bustamante and his Son.
In the Museum of the Filipino People, we will explore the richness of our cultural heritage by looking at our material culture, as revealed by ethnographic and archeological studies. Some of the archeological treasures on display are the Manunggul Jar, a balangay from Butuan, and the Laguna Copperplate Inscriptions. This is a rare occasion to learn, appreciate and celebrate our national cultural achievements.
