The National Digital Arts Awards 2015

Globaltronics officially launched the National Digital Arts Awards (NDAA) 2015 under the theme #DigitalPinoyAko last August 7 at 500 Shaw Zentrum Events Pavilion. About 600 people mostly student participants, media agencies, corporate and marketing executives, and sponsors attended the kick-off party.
The event featured three of the top disk jockeys in the country DJ Jet Boado, DJ Callum David, and DJ Tom Taus. The party had open bar for everyone in celebration of the continuing rise of the digital arts in the country. All the guests were treated to a programme of exciting entertainment and surprises.
“We want to give way to all the students who dream to be part of the digital arts community in the country. This is their chance to highlight their talents in creating works using digital media. We believe that this is the best time for them to join the awards because this is the biggest NDAA so far” stated by Fortunato Agbayani, COO of Globaltronics. NDAA is an advocacy of Globaltronics that aims to highlight the skills and talents of digital artists in the country.

The National Digital Arts Awards 2015 #DigitalPinoyAko is now open for digital print and motion graphic entries from Filipino student digital artists. The deadline of submission is until October 16. A total of 1 million of cash and prizes is up for grabs in this year’s edition of the NDAA. Awards Night will be held on January 15, 2016 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City. Aspiring participants can download the full mechanics here.

JUDGES’ PROFILE:
DAN MATUTINA
Designer and illustrator based in the Philippines.
He is the co-founder of Plus63 Design Co., a design studio that creates brand identities, strategize communications, design and illustration for print and web.
Matutina was also awarded by the Art Directors Club Young Guns Award last year. He also became one of the board of judges of National Digital Arts Awards 2014: Redefine, Recreate, Revolutionize.
LEEROY NEW
A prolific young artist and designer, Leeroy New’s practice overlaps and intersects with film, theater, visual arts and fashion. He is a Visual Arts graduate of the Philippine High School for the Arts and University of the Philippines Fine Arts, and has received several citations for his works, including the grand prize for sculpture in the 2005 Metrobank Art Awards and the 2009 Ateneo Art Awards where he received residency grants in Singapore and Australia as prize. Most recently, he has been nominated for the Signature Art Prize 2011.
He has done numerous exhibitions and has been invited to participate in the 2008 Singapore Biennale, where he positioned an army of his trademark alien figures on the roof of one of the courtyards of the City hall, and the 2009 Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale, where he installed an eye-shaped vessel on the façade of the FAAM Museum. He is the man responsible for the Balete Installation (2009) at the Rizal Library in the Ateneo University as well as the otherworldy façade of the Sptunik Comic Bar (2008) in Cubao X.
New also applies his artistic practice in the context of fashion and production design.
NICOLO NIMOR
Designer Nicolo Nimor is an apparel graphic illustrator in the Philippines. He is named as one of the 20 Best Young Designers by BluPrint Magazine, teejunckie’s 2010 Designer of the Year, Designbyhumans.com Rockstar Awardee.
He has worked with big names and brands such as The Devil Wears Prada, Mitsubishi, Nicki Minaj, david Hasselhoff, Rocket Clothing, Electric Zombie, Neff Headwear, Artwork, Team Manila, Samsung, Globe Tattoo, Ford, and many more.
Nicolo is the owner, art director, and lead graphic designer of Nick Automatic clothing.
CHITCHAT DIANGSON
She is the Creative Director of David Integrated Marketing Communications Philippines and the recent Creative Director of Expedio Inc.. Diangson heads a creative team that is tasked to conceptualize and mount both above-the-line and below-the-line campaigns such as brand activation, digital campaigns, and events. She worked with Creative Programs, Inc. (CPI) and she was in-charge for the promotions of ABS-CBN cable channels such as Lifestyle Network, Cinema One, Myx, and Hero
DOLPS FERNANDO
Dolps is the Head of Post for Postmanila, a post-production house that services television commercials, corporate AVPs, feature films, and online videos. Dolps has 10 years of advertising post-production experience. He worked also as a visual effects supervisor, motion-graphics artist, editor for various post-production and visual effects companies like Riot, Ignite Media and Larger than Life.
ANDRE CUI
Creative Services Manager, illustrator, and Motion Graphics Artist. He is the current Creative Director of Fluid Communications while doing freelance works for concept development to print for marketing, advertising, and editorial content. He became the Creative Services Head of ABS-CBN Cable Channels and Print Media Group for 7 years.
He is agraduate of De La Salle University – College of St. Benilde.
BENEDICK BANA
Benedick Bana is the current Chairperson of Department of Digital Arts and Computer Animation of Ateneo de Naga University. He teaches Animation and Computer Graphics in ADNU for almost 11 years. He is also a freelance digital artist. He collaborated with Tom Freeman “Freematik” in Darkmoon, a motion comics with music soundtrack where he created all the character designs, environments, and props of all the scenes. He also worked as a freelance artist in Topside Minigames, and worked with international digital character designers such as Alexander Snow, and Scott Peterson for an indie games.
EDWIN ORTEGA
He is the current Creative Director of Havas Worldwide Manila. He worked at Ace Saatchi & Saatchi for 5 years as Associate Creative Director. During his early career, he worked as a Copy Writer in McCann Erickson.
JAY DUSTIN SANTIAGO
Jay Dustin Santiago is the current Creative Director of ABS-CBN Global Marketing Services (TFC). He worked in Leo Burnett Manila as a Creative Director in the year 2011. He started his career as a copywriter at Santiago & Puno Advertising in the year 1996.
SID MADERAZO
Sid Maderazo is a television commercial director at 88 Storey Films. He is also a partner at Central Digital Lab, Inc. Aside from his career in the creative industry, he is also a retail entrepreneur at Panda Bamboo Shades Philippines.
BRANDIE TAN
Brandie Tan is the new Executive Creative Director (ECD) of Jimenezbasic Advertising. He is the former Executive Creative Director of the top advertising agency such as BBDO Guerrero, and Lowe Vietnam and Lowe Malaysia. Tan was part of the team that won the first Gold Cannes Lion for the Philippines back in 2007 together with his partner, Tin Sanchez. He has also been integral in the creation of work such as Department of Tourism campaign “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” and Bayan DSL’s Lola Techie.
In 2011, he was ranked as the no. 1 ECD in the country after having helped BBDO Guerrero garner local and international awards for clients such as FedEx, Bayer Saridon, Pepsi, Anlene, and The Philippine Department of Tourism.
