In his debut exhibition in the Philippines, Thai artist Chayanin Kwangkaew presents a harmony of opposites. Ruminating from meanings on mundane things, “Ordinary Soul” consists of 11 works on linen depicting contrasting elements of figuration and abstraction in both oil and acrylic. Kwangkaew paradoxically puts movement in still life through large patches of shapelessness and ambiguities while allowing the mundanity of objects to trigger deeper introspection.
