Virac, Catanduanes – Ngayong Mayo 18 hanggang 20, idaraos sa Catanduanes State University ang Pangsiyam na Pandaigdigang Kumperensiya ng Philippine Association for the Study of Culture, History and Religion (PASCHR) tampok ang mga tagapanayam mula sa bansa at labas nito.
Kabilang sa mga tagapanayam sina Dr. Sophana Schrichampa ng Mahidol University ng Thailand bilang pangunahing tagapagsalita, habang mga tagapagsalita sa plenaryo sina Dr. Randy Nobleza ng Island Innovation sa Marinduque, Dr. Vibha Agnijhotri ng University of Lucknow sa India, si Dr. Danilo Gerona ng Partido State University at si Dr. Ramon Felipe Sarmiento ng Catanduanes State University.
Inaasahang dadalo upang magbigay ng mensahe ang pangulo ng CatSU si Dr. Patrick Alain Azanza, ang pangulo ng South and Southeast Asian Association for the Study of Culture and Religion si Dr. Amarjiva Lochan, maging ang punong bayan ng Virac si Hon. Samuel Laynes at ang punong lalawigan si Hon. Joseph Cua.
Ang bubuo naman sa mga sabayang sesyon sa susunod na tatlong araw ay nagmula sa Camiguin Polytechnic State College, University of Saint Anthony, Pampanga State Agricultural University, Siquijor State College, Benguet State University, University of the Philippines Open University, Samar State University, UP Los Baños, UP Diliman, University of Perpetual Help System, Davao Oriental State University, Partido State University, Marinduque State College, Cebu Technological University, Catanduanes State University, Aklan State University, University of Antique, University of Santo Tomas, Cagayan State University, Central Bicol University, De La Salle University, DLSU Dasmariñas, , DLS Santiago Zobel School, Palm Beach Atlantic University, University of Asia and the Pacific, Isabela State University, Western Mindanao State University, Northern Iloilo State University, Sogang University, Lucknow University, University of Southern Mindanao, Bukidnon State University, Pines City National High School, University of Northern Philippines, Southern Philippines Agribusiness and Marine Aquatic School of Technology, Isabela State University at Bohol Island State University.
Ang tema ngayong taon ng kumeperensiya ng PASCHR ay “Narratives and Practices of meaning-making – histories, cultures and religions in the Philippines in their Indo-Pacific contexts.” Ang PASCHR ay kinikilalang National Association ng International Association for the Study of History of Religions (IAHR). Ang layunin nito ay makapag-ambag sa pambansang identidad sa pamamagitan ng interdisiplinari at transdisiplinaring pananaliksik. Kasama sa mga paksain nito ang katutubo, lokal na tradisyon maging ang kolonyal, postkolonyal at kontemporaryong pag-uswag, kaugnay ng mga karatig sa Asya mula sa perspektiba ng kultura, kasaysayan at relihiyon.
