The PPO 39th Concert Season entitled, ‘Switch’ is set to kickoff this September 15 at 7:30pm – catch the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra as they perform masterpieces under the baton of Maestro Grzegorz Nowak, the new Music Director and Principal Conductor of the PPO. One of the highlights of this concert is Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor, featuring pianist Mark Bebbington as soloist.

The Roman Carnival is a lively and vibrant nine-minute musical composition by Hector Berlioz, originally intended as a prelude to the second act of his opera “Benvenuto Cellini.” Berlioz crafted this overture in 1844 by extracting themes from the opera, particularly from its carnival scene. Renowned for his exceptional orchestration skills, The Roman Carnival overture is a dynamic and enduring work characterized by its exuberant energy and captivating musicality.

The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), the country’s premier orchestra, returns to the concert hall for live performances on its 39th season. With the theme “Switch,” the series of season concerts sets the stage for its new Music Director and Principal Conductor, Maestro Grzegorz Nowak; a much-sought-after conductor with a long career in opera and concerts. Maestro Nowak first performed with the PPO last year in the second concert of the PPO’s previous season at the CCP Main Theater.
The PPO also ‘switches’ venues as it moves to its temporary home at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, while the CCP is undergoing rehabilitation. PPO’s 39th Concert Season will showcase an outstanding roster of international guest soloists and renowned Filipino artists that promise a delightful and uplifting classical music experience.
