For Keiko Yokoyama’s third solo exhibition, she illuminates the purity and simplicity of childhood dreams, as portrayed through dolls engaged in imaginative play and ballerinas twirling in unbridled joy. It captures the essence as well as the fragility of innocence, inviting viewers to reconnect with the aspirations of their youth—dreams unburdened by the complexities of the world. Yokoyama shows the paradox of reality’s incipience that taints one’s imagination: how much of reality is present as we grow, and how much more we are pushed to imagine as we come to terms with what is real.
