BIRHENG NG SANTO ROSARIO DE UST, SAKSI SA BAWAT KASAYSAYAN NG PAMANTASAN, PAROKYA AT MGA DEBOTO
Other than being the priceless treasure of the parish, the image of our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of UST is figuratively a witness to the development and evolvement of the parish and university. Said to be probably made between the 17th and 18th century, the image of the Madonna and Child is still intact and now standing gloriously at the sanctuary of Santisimo Rosario Parish inside UST. Our theme for this year’s painting competition will center on how Mary, under the title of Nuestra Seilora del Santisimo Rosario de la Universidad de Sto. Tomas, became part of people’s lives from Colegio del Santisimo Rosario days to present. From the days which she is part of the important milestone of students entering the academic institution; as an aid to the spiritual growth of both the religious fathers of St. Dominic and students; source of strength, consolation and inspiration of devotees, known and unsung heroes of faith and land; the tender gaze who witnessed the sorrow of people from the era of war and devastation of pandemic; the icon which brings a light of hope to everyone who fly under her maternal protection.
I. ELIGIBILITY
1.1. The Santisimo Rosario Parish — UST Painting Contest is open to all Filipino artists, ages 18 to 40 years old only; parishioner or non-parishioner of Santisimo Rosario Parish —UST.
1.2. NO participation fees required.
1.3. REGISTRATION ONLINE, June 11 to August 5, 2022. Participants must register first. Email the following details to: santisimorosarioust.80.paint@gmail.com

Secure a scanned copy of any government-issued ID form as proof of age
Note: Please put Painting competition registration as subject of your email.
1.4. Participants are only allowed to submit one entry.
1.5. All paintings must be the original artwork of the participant. Plagiarism or copying artworks from another artist/s, in part or whole, will not be tolerated regardless if it has permission from the original author of the art piece.
1.6. All paintings must restrain from the following contents: hatred and discrimination against particular sector/s of society, political biases, advertising merchandizing brand/s and vices/bad habits.
1.7. There will be a pre screening of entries.
II. SPECIFICATIONS
2.1. Title of Art piece
2.2. Medium: Oil or Acrylic paint only on a non-textured canvas attached to a stretcher. Canvas panel/board (Canvas glued onto plywood) will not be accepted. Stretched canvas without plywood backing will be accepted.
2.3. Mixed media collage is not allowed
2.4. Required size: 2 feet x 3 feet only
2.5. Shall not be framed.
2.6. Orientation: Portrait
2.7. Style: Classical, representational, figurative. No abstract painting.
2.8. Main subject/model: Image of our Lady of the Rosary of UST (you may search photo for reference in the internet, possible search names: Santisimo Rosario UST, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary UST, Santo Rosario UST).
2.9. Entries must NOT be signed by the artist and free from any identifying markings anywhere on the surface of the canvas. Labeling will be done during the submission of entries.
2.10. Labeling will be done only by the authorized contest committee.
III. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
3.1. There will be a pre-screening of entries: Digital copies shall be submitted on or before August 27, 2022 (Saturday).
3.2. Confirmation shall be sent via email
3.3. All qualified paintings must be submitted on September 10, 2022 (Saturday) from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Santisimo Rosario Parish — UST Office, Ceferino Gonzales Drive, University of Sto. Tomas, Esparia Blvd., Sampaloc, Manila.
3.4. Latecomers and unregistered entries will not be entertained.
3.5. Unfinished work, wet paintings, or entries that did not follow the required size/medium/style will not be accepted.
3.6. Santisimo Rosario Parish — UST will not be responsible for pick-up or transport of the entries to or from any point of origin.
VI. SELECTION OF WINNERS
4.1. The Parish Priest of Santisimo Rosario Parish-UST shall select members of the Board of Judges.
4.2. Judging of entries will be on September 17 or 18. 4.3. There will be three (3) major winners and three (3) consolation winners or called the “Judge’s choice”, each with corresponding prizes:
Major Prizes
First prize — PHP 40,000.00
Second prize — PHP 30,000.00
Third prize — PHP 20,000.00
Minor Prizes 3 Judge’s choice — PHP 5,000.00 each
4.4. Judges’ decisions are final.
4.5. Winners will be announced on the same day, right after the Mass of the Enthronement Rites on September 22, 2022 (Thursday).
4.6. Winners will receive cash prizes and a certificate of recognition from the Santisimo Rosario Parish — UST.
4.7. All entries will be displayed on the exhibit from September 19 to October 14, 2022.
4.8. Artists will sign their artwork after the announcement of the winners.
4.9. All entries will automatically become properties of the Santisimo Rosario Parish — UST; ergo, the Parish has the right to use the name and photo of the artist and his/her art piece in any communications material used in the mass media or in any social media platforms.
4.10. All paintings on exhibit will be put on sale to the public during the exhibition, with a 50% commission for the Parish to support its pastoral programs and other projects.
4.11. The author or authorized representatives may retrieve unsold entries. All unclaimed entries after 2 months consignment period will be considered property of the parish.
